LOGISTICS Ideally, you will be able to travel to me, so that I can have two to four sittings at my studio. After that, I can usually paint from photographs I've taken.  I give the photographs to you when the painting is finished.  If you can't come to me (Omaha, Nebraska) I will travel to you, but that will raise your costs. I generally need 2 partial days. I'll sit with you and discuss what you'd like in your portrait. We'll try different compositions. I'll do a charcoal portrait while you sit for me, and take photographs. Obviously, with children, theprocess is a little less structured.

TRAVEL TO THE MODEL-- if I have to fly, add flat fee of $600 to cover airfare, hotel, and car rental. If I can drive, add $150 per night. (I usually just stay one night). Travel fees must be paid in advance of travel.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THE FINAL PAINTING?
You should make sure you are comfortable with my style. If you are looking for something different, let me know and I'll make recommendations for finding the portrait artist that is right for you. Portraits are highly personal for the poser and highly personal for the artist.  Composition and style must be approved in advance before work on the actual portrait begins. I honor the agreed upon sketch. The poser must honor the approval given to the sketch.  This means that you may choose to not purchase the final painting, but your down payment will not be refunded.

IF I COME TO OMAHA, WHAT IS THERE TO DO WHILE I'M THERE?
Omaha has excellent theater and a good art museum. The Old Market district is good for a day or a half day of shopping and wandering. The zoo is very good and just added a desert dome to its already remarkable interior rainforest. Of course, there are sports (Husker country). There's a strong art community here with several good galleries. Omaha has a strong poetry community here that performs almost weekly readings and slams in various locales. There are hiking trails (which tend to be flat). Other interests: casinos, shopping malls, airforce museum, heritage museum. I'll add some links here soon so you can see for yourself. For now, discoveromaha.com and slamomaha.com are good resources. So is councilbluffsiowa.com/tourism/attractions.asp, which is for Council Bluffs, IA, a city next door to Omaha.

BUYING READY-MADE ART FROM THIS SITE
The prices for paintings are listed below the photos.  I accept check, money orders, and cash.  If you send a check, I will wait for it to clear before shipping out the painting.  All prices include sales tax.  Shipping is extra.  If the piece is under a certain size, USPS will ship it and they are not very expensive.  I charge a $50 handling fee.  The painting is packed in a double box and wrapped in bubble wrap.  Larger paintings (length + width=130 inches or more) require an art shipper.  I will obtain a quote for individual paintings.  Costs typically average at $300 for shipping. You are welcome to come here to pick up a painting, rather than pay shipping costs.
