Piano
Party
My
house has a piano window (a small window about 4 feet from the floor
- the perfect height to accomdate an upright without blocking the
light). The house was built in 1912 and I suspect (based on patterns
in my pine floor, which shows the history of even a surface rug)
that it's never had a piano. Recently, some friends gave me a piano.
As soon as it arrived, the house seemed to let out a sigh, like,
"Finally! Now I can relax!" I'm learning to play, but
luckily, almost all of my Omahan friends play the piano, so I started
hosting piano parties. The first party boasted, in addition to the
piano and many excellent sets of vocal cords, two accordians, a
penny whistle, and one guest who could play the recorder through
her nose!
