Snow Dancer in Taos
After a winter weekend in Taos, NM, I was struck by
the contrast of the red dirt of the region, peeking through the
snow. Like much of the scenery in New Mexico, the juxtaposition
of colors and elements of landscape were both foreign and fascinating
to me. Shortly after my weekend, I saw a Brazilian dance troupe
perform at the South Broadway Cultural Center in Albuquerque. That
night, I came home and PAINTED. One of the best things about painting
is how different sights and emotions can ferment inside you for
awhile and then suddenly explode out. I am often as suprised by
what I see on my canvas as a stranger is.
