A sweet deal for Winnipeg

For the second year in a row, Derrick Godfrey, the baker genius behind The Cupcake Corner is teaming up with United Way to create a sweet deal for Winnipeg–Cupcake Day for United Way.

From 7 to 10 am on Thursday, October 7 , volunteers will stand ready to receive morning commuters in the parking lot between Organza/Dollarama and Burger King, selling 12-packs of Derrick’s delicious mini cupcakes.

For every dozen sold, The Cupcake Corner will donate seven bucks to support United Way’s work in our community.

Curve 94.3‘s Sarah and Jay will broadcast live on location, and hand out coffee and newspapers.

Each dozen cupcakes comes with 6 Vanilla and 6 Chocolate cupcakes with a mix of their all natural frosting flavours–chocolate, peppermint, mocha, lemon, strawberry, banana (the latter made with real fruit).

But as a special, pre-halloween bonus, Derrick is offering twelves of his famous Pumpkin Cheesecake flavour (reportedly Sarah and Jay’s fave) for $20, with $10 going to United Way.

Last year, organizers sold over 420 dozen (that’s over 5000 cupcakes) raising almost $3,000 to help United Way create opportunities for a better life for everyone.

Now that’s a delicious way to bake a difference in Winnipeg.

  1. Winnipeggers’ response to Cupcake Day was overwhelming. They took orders for 1450 dozen cupcakes (18,000 cupcakes!). The final numbers are yet to be tallied, but it’s coming up on $11,000 raised for our community. Check out the action at today’s drive through: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgUch1Nepfs
